President of D’Youville University | Award-Winning Educational Innovator | Student Retention Expert | Global Keynote Speaker

Lorrie A. Clemo has dedicated her life to leadership and service through higher education. From her early days as an associate professor at Binghamton University, to her role as a Provost and Vice President at SUNY Oswego, to her current post as President of the nationally-ranked D’Youville University, Lorrie has relentlessly pursued one goal: elevating each campus she serves into a learning community of innovation, outreach and growth.

D’Youville University is a 114-year-old private institution offering in-seat and online academic programs inside a dynamic learning community. In her senior role, Lorrie relentlessly advocates for equitable access to education, diversity, and student well-being and achievement. Due in part to her efforts, D’Youville achieved University status in 2022, and its graduates consistently enjoy the highest early-career salaries in Western New York.

A humanistic managerial style and focus on the work-life balance are also high on Lorrie’s priority list. Recently she made headlines in higher education by announcing a switch to a campus-wide 32-hour work week. Additionally, Lorrie promotes the use of technology and has led many initiatives throughout her career to establish and further the role of technology on college campuses.

She sees the new 32-hour work week at D’Youville as a great opportunity to institute more technology at D’Youville, as well as invite staff to develop strong skills in key campus technology platforms and become experts in data analytics.

Outside of work, Lorrie is a wife, mother and grandmother: all roles she sees as deeply intertwined with her professional calling and responsibilities. She holds a PhD in Political Science, Policy Analysis, from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York.

She also has been honored with numerous scholastic and leadership awards, from such diverse bodies as the NCAA, NYS, Binghamton University and SUNY Research Foundation, U.S. Department of Education and American Council on Education.

As a global keynote speaker with experience presenting in China, India, and across the globe, Lorrie delivers talks focused on leadership, student engagement and retention, human resources in higher education, women’s empowerment and the integration of technology. Wherever possible, she loves to combine these passions.
